Android 4.2.x vs. Apple iOS7 vs. WP8 vs. Ubuntu

“iOS just got flat!”. I heard that particular phrase a lot these days, ever since Apple decided to launch the iOS 7. Let’s face it, while other OSs were reinventing themselves, Apple decided to add minor tweaks here and there to the general appearance of their Home Screen. With the new release, they’ve raised the stakes on home screen design, making us want to compare it with other competitors on the market.

But making a comparison between home screens has nothing to do with operating systems. It’s a matter of personal taste, colors, simplicity or complexity and, finally, about icons. Which one do you like more? Android 4.2.x, Apple iOS7 ,  WP8 or Ubuntu?

Apple’s WorldWide Developer Conference was held few days ago, and the next generation of operating system for the iPhone and iPad was introduced: the iOS 7. According to Tim Cook, the man in charge, iOS 7 represents the biggest step forward seen so far in iOS. Last night, I had the pleasure of testing the new iOS on a friend’s iPhone 5. After testing it for 30 minutes I concluded that the new version of iOS brings cool new features in appearance and in functionality, richer colors, while maintaining the smooth design and classic concepts. I bought a new cool gadget few days ago, and I would like to share it with you. I have multiple sources of Internet around me, depending on the location: home I’m using a pppoe connection on the LAN cable, I also have a  WiFi connection, on the road I’m creating a hotspot using my smartphone and sometimes I share my 3G Internet dongle’s connection using a 3G compatible router. But, the other day, while I was checking some gadgets at a technology fair in my area, I found this cute box. At first, I thought it was some sort of a lamp or a device controlled via Internet. I was close, but way under its actual specs, because this box, called WebCube, is actually a 3G Wifi Router that allows you to create a WiFi hotspot using a 3G Sim.

Find a replacement battery for an Acer laptop in UK

replacement-battery-aspire-7740

This post is rather personal. I own an Acer Aspire 7740 since 2010. I’ve paid around $800 for it back then, and compared to my previous Pavilion, this one was really fast! But, as you may know, Acer is not necessarily known for building everlasting products. The HDD works perfectly, the display is OK, no RAM problems, but few months ago, out of nowhere, the battery’s gone dead on me. I’ve tried every trick in the book to revive it (leaving it in the freezer included), but It’s damn gone, showing the Windows error: “Plugged in, no charging”.
