Essential Phone

Are you ready for this? A brand new company is trying to get all the shine in the smartphone industry with Essential Phone. In this regard, it has prepared a new device that should arrive on the market really soon. Although it came out of nowhere, Essential Phone could (should) be a real success.

Andy Rubin is the most important name in Android history. Before he was anchored in some Asian adventures and before set up his own phone company, he was one of Google’s Vice President of Mobile and Digital Content. At that time, it handled the evolution of the operating system we see on most smartphones in the market.

At this very moment, Andy Rubin’s name is synonymous with Essential Phone, an appealing gadget that tries to show us that there is a real alternative to Apple and Samsung’s flagships. The very first device from a brand new company is not necessary a good investment. But the CEO explained in a blog post what are the real reasons why the Essential Phone is a long-term investment.

Essential Phone

With a long history of Android development, Rubin has promised that every Essential Phone ever launched under the company logo will benefit without exception two years of functionality updates through new Android releases. They add an additional year of relevant security patches from Google. As opposed to the Mountain View giant, the same terms and conditions come with each Pixel. It’s good to remember that Rubin did not make an absurd promise as to when the new Android iterations will end up on Essential.

Essential Phone Specifications

The device will come with Android 7.1.1, it will feature 5.7-inch LCD with a rezolution of 2560×1312 pixels (505 PPI) with Corning Gorilla Glass 5. Under the hood we find am octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chip clocked at 2.45GHz (Kryo 280 CPU), Adreno 540 GPU. 4GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage are present (non-expandable). The device features a dual 13MP camera (color + monochrome. f/1.85 lens lens, phase-detect + laser auto focus) and a 8MP with f/2.2 lens secondary camera. The battery has 3040mAh, USB-C fast charging is present.

Essential Phone should be part of an ecosystem. New accessories will be announced every few months, while at launch we will have a 360 degree video camera. Considering American marketing principles, the Android founder has not shied away from the aggressive loyalty practices adopted by Samsung in recent years. On the same black list were Apple with their closed-ended protocols that doesn’t let you have a FaceTime conversation with a person who does not own an iPhone.
