Tuesday, Facebook launched for the first time an application for Android, a mobile messenger app that can be used even if the users do not have an account on the social network.
Facebook Messenger, an app that could be used until now only if you had a Facebook account, is changing. From now on, you can use it just like WhatsApp, with a name and a phone number.
Mashable announced that the service will be soon available for iPhone users. I think that Facebook learned a big lesson from MySpace’s downfall, and it’s trying to invest in every trend, it is trying to reinvent itself. That’s great, because trends change like crazy these days. The new Facebook Messenger could be a viable alternative to Yahoo Messenger, Google Voice, Kik or WhatsApp.
