Koreans from Samsung registered a new record lately, and strengthens their leading position in the smartphone market, once lead by Nokia. Samsung recorded a stunning 91% increase from 6.560 billion wons, a profit of 6 billion dollars, beating the estimated earnings of 6.25 billion wons. Samsung has sold a record number of smartphones – 56.3 millions in the last quarter.
Samsung maintains its position as a leader on the smartphone market, but recorded a slight decrease in market share from 32.6% in the second quarter to 31.3%. Apple ranked second with 15% thanks to 26.9 million iPhones sold. In the second quarter, the U.S. company recorded a 16.9% market share, according to research firm IDC, so they dropped almost 2 percents.
